Prof. Yenny Jimenez.

1. How long have you been working in this University?

"I have been working for five years in this University. First, I worked as a contracted professor from 2006 to 2009, and in the same year (2009) I became a member of the Linguistics Deparment Staff"

2. What subjects have you taught, which one has been your favourite and why?

"I’ve taught English I, English II, III and IV."

"I would say my favorite one is English IV, because English IV students know more about English, and they can express better their ideas. The discussions in class are better; they are more productive, since they can speak fluently. But even that, I also love to teach English I, II, and III. To work with those subjects is hard because we, as teachers, have to find the best way to help students adquire the language and become aware about their responsability as future teachers, pointing out that in most of the cases, students know nothing about the English language and being a teacher."

3. Is there any subject you have not taught, but you wish to. Which one, and why?

"Well…none. Actually, I don’t limit myself to work with a specific subject; each one of them would be OK. For me, the most important thing is the human act that is created among the students and you as their teacher, but most importantly, what comes from it. As Aristotle said: “All human beings, by nature, desire to know”, and that act is produced in any subject, no matter if it is related to how language works or what we can do with it. That’s what I’m interested in."

4. What are the best experiences you have lived as an English teacher at the Teacher’s training college?

"For me, the best experience that you can have as a teacher is to see how our students advance during their career, how they develop their skills, how we can help them, and we notice our help in their improvement. To travel around the learning and teaching world is so interesting... and it can make us better people, teachers and human beings day by day."
