Prof. Rosa Ponce

  1. How long have you been working in this University?
"I’ve been working here for about 20 years. Since September 25th, 2000 I belong to the Linguistics Department staff and for about 10 years before that I worked as a contracted teacher".

  1. What subjects have you taught, which one has been your favorite and why?
"I’ve taught English I, II, III, IV and V, including Reading and Writing. In the area concern with the reflexion about the language I’ve taught Methodology and Evaluation, Advanced English I, Advanced English II and Advanced Conversation".

  1. Is there any subject you have no taught, but you wish to do. Which one and why?
"I would like to teach Psycholinguistics, Sociolinguistics. They are areas about the language learning. These areas are fundamental parts in the elements that we have to know as teachers, and their work is to complement the language teaching and concepts that belong to that process as Vygotsky says, but there is also a great amount of researchers that contribute to these researches in the social, cultural and anthropological aspect, that study the man’s development and that also help understand the man, our behaviour, actions that are our language itself or a foreign one, whatever if it is our mother tongue or a foreign language that we want to learn. In this sense, as teachers, we have to prepare ourselves for dealing with what language is about".

  1. What are the best experiences you have lived as an English teacher at the teacher training you?
"Just working with you is what I love; being with my students, close to you. I guess the sensibility a teacher loves as a particular ingredient you have. As human beings, you also share with your students. I just make like a connection to fell interrelated, sharing some points of views, sharing some types of direction that we are going or looking for in this situation which is Teaching and Education. That’s mainly what I like, feeling that we are like connected in one point in this job".
